1. 2017 CITYWIDE AFRICAN AMERICAN ARTISTS EXHIBITION
Monday, July 17, 2017 – Sunday, July 30, 2017
The 19th annual Citywide Exhibition offers artists of the African Diaspora the opportunity to show their work to a broader public and collecting community. Curated by Jamal Cyrus, the exhibition is on view at the University Museum at TSU and on view until July 30. Learn more here

MODERN-DAY ABOLITIONIST: AN INTIMATE CONVERSATION WITH KATHRYN GRIFFIN

Kathryn Griffin is a modern-day abolitionist, who is currently employed to administer her Re-Entry Program “Been There, Done That” in the Jail of the Harris County Sheriff’s Office, where she rehabilitates women who have been victims of human trafficking and prostitution. 5. WAXAHOLICS THURSDAYS
Thursday, July 20, 2017, 8:00 p.m. – 2:00 a.m.
Your favorite 2000s hits will be played non-stop at this long-running, all-vinyl event led by local DJ collective, The Waxaholics. It gets a bit crowded but I wouldn’t recommend showing up before 11:00 p.m. Go ahead and take a nap if you have to work on Fridays. Learn more here

6. HOUSTON APPRECIATION WEEKEND
Thursday, July 20, 2017 – Sunday, July 23, 2017
Drake brings back the annual Houston Appreciation Weekend with several events. Starting with the Thursday charity barbecue and private party at Jet Lounge, the lineup includes a Saturday pool party and club parties each night. HARRY POTTER AND THE SORCEROR’S STONE IN CONCERT
Friday, July 21, 2017 – Saturday, July 22, 2017

Maryland rapper Logic is touring on his latest album Everybody and comes to Revention Music Center with Joey Bada$$ and Big Lenbo. This is one of thirty concerts coming up in Houston. You may recognize his song Black SpiderMan released earlier this year. Learn more here

8. MIXERS & ELIXIRS AT THE HOUSTON MUSEUM OF NATURAL SCIENCE

SITUATION MIXTAPE AT DIVERSEWORKS

On the final evening of the exhibition “into the midst of things,” Houston artists will present a live, de-centered collage of words, images, films, sounds, and music from a wide variety of sources.
