Gulf Coast Reading Series at Rudyard’s Pub at 7pm featuring writers from the University of Houston’s graduate program in creative writing.
Hearts, Hands & Heritage: Divine Designs & Diversity of the African Diaspora opens at Community Artists’ Collective at 7pm. This exhibit will be open until November 18.
TGIF! College Night is at Contemporary Arts Museum Houston at 6pm and it’s free with college ID with music by DJ Flash Gordon Parks and activities.

Saturday, October 15

The International Literature Festival is taking place at multiple locations on Saturday and Sunday.
The Korean Festival is at Discovery Green all day and I’ll be there for the headlining acts that evening eating bibimbap.
Sculpture Month Houston Opening at The Silos on Sawyer at 6pm.
The Hive Society’s #HoustonCares Community Service event is at the Houston Food Bank at 12:30pm and will be a huge event. Make sure you create a volunteer profile in advance.
Ice Cream Social: Black Lives Matter is being held by Alibi-X at Ben & Jerry’s at 1pm in support of the company’s advocacy.
Black Panther Party 50th Anniversary H-Town is taking place at the historic MacGregor Park at 3pm.
Screw Up The Vote w/ Screwed Up Click, Paul Wall, Lyric Michelle is happening at 8th Wonder Brewery at 4pm. Free with RSVP.
Chance the Rapper is coming to Houston! 8pm at Revention Music Center.

Sunday, October 16

To Be Honest + Brunch Series: “Fashion & Influence” is at BLUEorange Contemporary at 1pm and is the launch event featuring prominent women in the fashion community with free food and drinks.
SocialXchangeHTX is at Sharespace at 1pm and there’ll be free drinks as people seek to create community around diversifying Houston’s social community.
Thrills: October Writing Workshop Series is at East End Studio Gallery at 2pm and this week they’ll be working on playwriting.
Any Given Sunday at Alley Kat at 4pm is DJ duo Soul Control’s weekly event with free Breakfast Klub chicken.
Houston and the Civil Rights Movement is a discussion at the Houston Museum of Natural Science at 6:30pm with activist Rev. William Lawson and his daughter Melanie Lawson.
CeeLo at Proof Rooftop Lounge at 8pm. He’s doing a DJ set and tickets start at $15. Could be fun!

Monday, October 17

Majid Jordan at Warehouse Live at 8:30pm. This R&B duo from Toronto is connected to Drake but be warned, Warehouse Live concerts usually end late.

Tuesday, October 18

Final Presidential Debate Watch Party! Bonus – Kermit Ruffins at Axelrad at 5pm. The debate will show from 8 – 9:30pm. Musician Kermit Ruffins will be showing beforehand.

Art Faculty Biennial Reception at Texas Southern University at 7pm. Art by professors at a historically black college. Not sure how you could miss this.
Bajo Terapia (In Therapy) opens at Midtown Arts & Theatre Center Houston (aka MATCH) at 7:30pm. This is a comedy by an Argentine playwright and all performances are in Spanish with English subtitles on Friday and Saturday.
Aurora Vinyl Party: Houston supergroup The HUE is performing at Nightingale Room at 8pm showing off their new album Aurora. At the risk of sounding repetitive check them out!
